Question #1:

Rollerblading tips for an ice skater?

To keep in shape over the summer (no ice rinks are open nearby during this season) I bought myself a pair of rollerblades. I have only been using them for about an hour, but I find some things very difficult. Like turning and stopping. The movements are the same I think. Going backwards, forwards and doing swizzles are fine. Simple forward spirals on a straight line have worked for me so far, too. I don't really have any interest in artistic inline skating yet though because of the lack of a toepick, haha.

Does anyone have any tips on how to rollerblade, when I have only ever been ice skating before? How do you turn? How do you stop at a high speed? Edge stops and T-stops obviously don't work, but the scissor motion and stopping with the heel is awkward. Will this just get easier with practice, or is there another way to stop (besides crashing or falling)?

Thanks for all the input and answers!

Question #2:

Question #3:

If I go into a store, lets say ASDA and they have no signs saying im not allowed to, can security or staff kick me out if I slowly rollerblade (at walking speed) to buy 1 or 2 things? I mean, its not worth taking off rollerblades if im gonna just buy a bottle coke, right?

Thanks.

Question #4:

Packing Rollerblades For Shipping?

I have a pair of rollerblades to ship. Would it be ok if i just throw them into the box alone and tape the box up and ship it like that? When i move the box around the rollerblades rock around in the box. Do they need to be stable with packing peanuts or something? Or can they be in the box alone.

Question #5:

Are there any places that sell rollerblades in Madison Wisconsin?

I need a new way to fill downtime around the house. I used to scooter, and that gave me tendentious because I didn't switch legs. Then I tried swinging, and apparently i get dizzy easily, so I throw up every time I swing. I run and dance and exercise, but that just isn't enough to keep me busy. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any stores that sold rollerblades or roller skates.

Question #6:

God I miss the 90s'!!! Does anyone else feel the same?

This era sucks and its really sad. I hate all this technology, I wish we just had tv's like in the 90's. no plasma's or lcd's hd tv's but just regular tv's. I wish we didn't have any mobiles, or computers. Computers are just boring especially in college when everything has to be typed and not written anymore. I prefer writing essays then typing them. God i hate it, i would do anything go relive my life and fix all my mistakes. The 90's had the best cartoons, best movies, best tv shows, best games and the holidays were so amazingly magical especially when expierencing it New York. God i miss christmas when it was real and the christmas movies just made it even better. But now New York city isn't the same as it used to be. The christmas feeling isn't there no more, but in the 90's i enjoyed it and appreciated the gifts i would get. I remember when i got my first pair of rollerblades and i would go outside over the summer and rollerblade all day. I missed the 90's because there was no wars, or terrorism. It was pure happiness for everyone. The music, movies, cartoons, shows, all taught us something about life that what I miss about the 90's.

Question #9:

Where to buy inline skates [rollerblades]?

Heys.

I've been going to many sport stores, and searching online for street/urban skates, but I cannot find any! It's so hard to find since it's not that popular like when it first came out. I live in sydney and I've been trying to find a store that sells for a while now. I called up rebel sports and they do not have it either =(

Do you know where I can buy them? I'm not fond of buying online, because the sizes vary with different brands, and you can never tell if its comfortable or to your liking via online..

Please help! Thanks.

Question #10:

Aggressive in line rollerblades vs normal in line rollerblades. Does one type go faster than the other?

Question #11:

Can anyone tell me what Friends episode this is from?

Its the one where Ross works as a professor at NYU and his classes are at opposite ends of the university and he has to use rollerblades to get there.
Thanks so much I own the DVDs and wanted to watch it and couldn't remember what epsiode and it was driving me crazy.

Question #12:

Am I weird/crazy/insane?

When friends call me weird it's normally because of something social I do or because I do weird stuff apparently. I guess I'm the only one that has a trunk full of everything you could possibly need from clothing to trunks to medical gear to water to sports gear and almost anything you could put in a car to use somewhere. Socially I'm weird cause well I use to be introverted and depressed so I'm behind a little socially, I'm not use to "normal" friendships.

When they call me crazy it's probably because of something I did which a lot I can't say on a public page like this because some of it is illegal. But to give you a example I like driving fast, I like traffic, I like going to weird places and chilling there (Like on top of Walmart). I apparently live on the "edge" and am "reckless" and have a "death wish". For example one of these said events entailed me in full body kevlar on Rollerblades going 50 down a highway behind my friends pickup truck. It was fun... but the cops pulled us over but I managed to get out of the ticket cause the dude thought it was cool and we weren't "endangering anyone but [myself]". Basically you know those MTV shows with the stunts I've probably done most of them if not more crazier stuff than them.

Last but not least people call me insane because of stuff I wear on a daily basis, what I say, what I believe...also if I get bored I shout off quotes from A-Team and That 70s Show.

If people think I'm so weird/crazy/insane then why does everyone want to be my friend it seems? Most of the time before people know me( or hear what I do) they avoid me but after that first week or two I'm friends with EVERYONE. It's a weird phenomenon that happens year after year.

I'm currently a senior in high school and I only take college classes 30 hours last semester. I don't see how people can call 12 hours a full load. While I'm typing this up on my friend's account I might as well ask this as well... What are some good career choices you think I should do? I was thinking Business,Medical School, Research Psychology, and Military. But if you got something with adventure I could do and make a lot of money tell me.
@ laurie p - I'm a Collegiate High School Student there are programs like these all over the United States which are hosted by local Community Colleges and Junior Colleges in collaboration with School Districts. My program allows me to go to my local community college and my high school pays the majority of all fees along with my books. I get high school credits for all college credits I get so that is what allows me to only take college classes. If you need me to elaborate more I can.

As for me I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was around 3-4 years old. I grew up overseas in other cultures, mostly Asian. Which caused me to become extremely extroverted because I had to make friends all the time. When I was 10 my family moved to a post soviet bloc culture. That culture caused me to become clinically "depressed" but because I was never really diagnosed with it so I never got medicated. When I was there a lot of bad stuff happened really screwed me up to say the least. Now I'm over it.
Over it after 8 years but over it... but now I'm socially behind. As for a trauma the last thing before that happened before people started noticing a major behavior change was a major car accident(t-bone). I was told that I was almost killed. After that people said I began to change more quickly. But they also said they been seeing my behavior change over time.

Question #18:

Looking to buy rollerblades to use on the street...any suggestions?

The road I'd be using them on is a rough back-country type road that has some gravel laying about and mixed into it, not a smooth newly paved asphalt road, or sidewalk. Granted, I would probably use them on a sidewalk when I get better at stopping but until then, I need to know what type of rollerblades - or most importantly what type of wheels - would be the best for that type of rough road. Any suggestions or recommendations would be very helpful to me.

Question #19:

WHY don't my roller blades go fast?

I'm pretty pissed off. I just tried to go rollerblading and I had to go back home because they are SO slow.

When I push off, they only roll for a few seconds and I have to keep on pushing off of them constantly and can never just roll. I see so many people in my neighborhood with their roller blades and they "cruise" on them instead of constantly pushing off, and they go FAST. That is what I want to do, but my roller blades don't allow me to do that as they stop rolling after a few seconds.

My dad cleaned the wheels, put oil in them, but they are still the same. I was wondering, how can I make them roll more easier and better? It's hard to explain, but they are so slow.

I was wondering, maybe it's because they were just cheap rollerblades? In my garage I can go pretty fast but on the roads I cannot? But I'm thinking it's the road, but I see so many other people going on the road and they go really fast so it cannot be the road.

Thanks.

Question #20:

I need a new pair of rollerblades, but don't know which ones to get???? Help!?

Ok, so the ones I have are for beginners and they're just regular rollerblades, with a brake on the right one. I've had them for about 3 years and because I'd never skated before, I just had some cheap ones to see if I like it. I skate for about an hour 5-7 times a week at a park, but I'd like some that I could also use if I just wanted to skate in our neighborhood, on the road (it's paved, but there's not a sidewalk). What are some good brands? Links to a specific pair would be great! Thanks
