Question #1:

To all fishermen out there?

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the van, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."

My loving wife of 5 years replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"

And that's how the fight started...

Question #5:

Can someone help me out with slopes/ Cartesian planes etc.?

I missed the lesson in class, but I don't really have the greatest teacher.

Apparently when a slope goes up to the right it's positive and down to the right is negative. But we did an example question with a sail on a boat. It went down to the right and the teacher said it was positive?

Also, when given one point on a gird and told what the slope is, I have no clue how to find the other point.

A simple explanation should suffice, I catch on fairly quickly and it's only grade 9 math.

Question #6:

Do other women find this movie scene kind of funny too?

My friend and I were watching this really bad action movie last nigh, and there's a part where this guy (from the villian's side) falls into the water with all these sharks. The next camera shot is under water, and a shark swims up from below, and you can clearly see that it attacks/bites the guy between his legs. There's a woman on the boat (also a baddy) who the guy was always hitting on, and she wasn't interested. When the shark gets him, she smiles and says "Good! Just leave him". The guy is of course screaming from being bitten between the legs, and then another shark comes in and they eat him.

We both kind of thought the scene was funny, but not sure which part is funnier. Is it the shark biting the guy between the legs, or is it the woman's reaction?

Question #10:

The CREEPIEST movie scene you have seen?

They're are a lot of weird and freaky movie scenes out there, these are my top 3:
1. A Clockwork Orange- where Alex and his friends break into Mr. Alexander's home.
2. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory- a peaceful boat trip turns into a psychotic thriller with a death-inspired poem.
3. The Shining- Jack Torrance "here's Johnny" (eery music).

What's yours?

Question #11:

Would this be considered "adequate shelter" for a dog?

There's a boat dealer near my house who has started keeping a Rottweiler chained to a boat in his showyard. He's been there about 2 weeks. There is no doghouse there and I always see him lying under the boat. In my state, law says animals must have food and water, vet care for illness/injury, and adequate shelter. Lying under a boat doesn't cut it for me but the dog is clearly visible from the main highway and I know police officers drive by several times a day. They have to have seen it. I'm going to call them tomorrow to make a report but I wonder why the police haven't already stopped in to talk to him about it? The dog looks so sad just lying there all the time and it's starting to turn cold here.

Question #12:

Why do atheists always use education to combat christians?

Do they really think that there are not educated christians in the world?? I know a lot of well educated people who are christian, or at least believe in God(I am one of them). In case atheists haven't noticed there are very few of them in this world. There is a reason for that and that reason is that what they believe doesn't make sense at all. I know I am going to get a hundred atheists responding here and telling me the same ole, even though I am asking this of fellow christians. Whatever floats your boat. I know exactly what you are going to say so why waste your time?? My faith is too strong.

Question #14:

What are some affordable weapons systems that can sink small boats and be used by Merchant Marines?

I'm curious what kinds of weapons would be well suited for sinking pirate vessels that attempt to board merchant vessels and that could be used by the crew members on the vessels.

What would they need, and about how much would it cost to protect the ship from all angles of attack?

Question #15:

Which should i Join? Navy or Marines?

I'm really looking forward to joining the military in a few years, but i can't decide which branch to join. I hope to be in Marine Special forces or the Navy SEALs. The only problem is I don't want to drop out of BUD/s or have something happen and be on a boat until I can try again. I fell very qualified mentally and physically to do it. (Thank you to all those out there who are always telling people they aren't good enough for SEALs, but please don't answer, I really think I could make it, I'm very driven to do things i want to do, I don't give up.) So, with my points do you think i ought to go into the Marines and work my way up, or go into BUD/s and risk staying on a ship.

Thank you to all those who answer, i appreciate it.

I am not asking for the answers. I have a lot of them. I have 6 of them allready. IT is a paragraph that you must find 24 adverb/adjective phrases. You need to say the phrases, weather its a advarb or adjective, and the word(s) it modifies.

So here it is Venice a group of isanlds is located in the Adriatic Sea, byt the islands of the city are seperated from the mainland by a logoon. Canals crisscross the city and are used for travel by Venetiens and vistitors. A tourist might cross four hundred bridges during a long walk!
Buildings in the city do not stand on solid ground. Instead, wooden posts are stuck into the mud, and the buildings are built on them. Narrow alleyways run between the buildings.
Venice's tourist boats transport people around the city. Formerly gondolas were the citys cheif method of transportaion but today motorboats carry people along the waterways.
Venetiens hold a grand regatta or gondlala race in september. Thousands of tourist vistit the center of Venice during this month. Why not be one of them? Begin planning for your trip now. You could easily spend a month in Venice witout a single boring day.

Question #17:

Can you help me with calculating Speed and Distance?

I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I am having with my Physics. My exam is tomorrow, and I don't have time to email my instructor. Here it is:

> A fishing boat starts at rest and then throttles up, accelerating at 2.40m/s. Calculate:

(i) How fast the boat is moving after accelerating for 5.0 s.

For this part I used Change in Velocity = Acceleration X Time interval. I got an answer of [12.0m/s] which is correct.

(ii) Calculate how far the boat has travelled in this time. For this I used Speed=distance/time, rearranged Distance=Speed X Time.

I multiplied the speed, which is 12.0m/s, and the time which is 5.0s, and I got the answer [60.00m]. But when I looked at the answer provided, it said {30.00m}.

So, why is the correct answer half of what I came up with? Thank you in advance.

Question #18:

What do you think of my idea for a horror romance young adult novel?

So I'm writing a book and want to know what you guys think of this idea. I wrote up a summary, but I'm not the greatest so sorry if it's hard to understand. Anyways, there is NO vampires/zombies/werewolfs/shapeshifters etc. just normal humans. there may be like a witch but that's it (not the magical type - like the kind of witches people believe they are today...)

here is the summary:

Catherine Kraft lives in Florida on the beach all her life. She’s popular, has four best friends, and a boyfriend. One summer night when she’s 18, she can’t sleep. She decides to go outside to build a sandcastle, but forgets to check how the waves are. When she just finishes building a sandcastle, a high tide comes. She starts to run toward her home, but the waves pull her in and she almost drowns. She’s waiting for her time, but it doesn’t come. Vanessa, a lady a few blocks from her house, is boating and saves her. Since she’s a nurse, she takes care of her only to realize who she Catherine is. Just the look of Catherine’s face brings Vanessa the memory of her little sister who got killed in an accident. She gets so mad that she was able to save Catherine yet not her sister, so she uses her power. When Catherine finally awakes, Vanessa’s power awakens too – the power to create illusions. They are not good illusions, for Vanessa is in a bad mood. Vanessa realizes how much she wants to kill Catherine and puts her through five tests that she must pass in order to live. Luckily Scott, Vanessa’s son, comes home and is able to save Catherine with the power of his own. He then brings Catherine to the emergency room and leaves once her family shows up. It is only later that Catherine finds the note in her pocket that Vanessa left for Scott. When she does find Scott, she realizes that he’s her soul mate. Catherine must choose between Scott and Chris. If she chooses Chris, she will never know what true love is; if she chooses Scott she will have to live with him while having to see his mother again. Can Catherine find a way to escape Scott’s mother and live with him and will she able to escape the pain of the suffering that Vanessa caused her?

sorry it's kind of long. What do you think of the idea? and would you want to read this when it's totally finished? if you wouldn't read it, why not?

please answer just one or all. I greatly appreciate kind answers.
yeah i wanted to make the summary so it's like she's normal then the tests come...
yeah well there is alot more to the story, i just wanted to leave it hanging and not give it all away. it's more of a synposis so yeah. and scott's power is the power to save people from other powers that are used (ie his mother's power)....

"In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.

Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities."
