Question: I have a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, Can I ship it to the Philippines?
( Back )
Answer #1:
I think A better question is how long before it is stolen?Answer #2:
Only if you are independently wealthy. The shipping will be 3-5000USD. The customs fees will be 125% of the original cost.. All fluids will have to be drained. If something malfunctions on it, where do you suppose you'll find a mechanic to service it? Not here. Where in the Philippines are you going to be going? After one year here, on the majority of the roads, the thing will be junk. You will have to ship it back at some point or pay a huge bond, when you sell it. How do you think you will register it? It might cost you a fortune to get it passed by the emissions control people.
That's enough bad news for now, don't you think?
Answer #3:
It can be expensive for you depending on your status. Balikbayans and members of the diplomatic corps have programs that make it easier for them to allow importation of relatively newer models. Try to apply for an import permit first with Customs so you will know the fees associated with your shipment. The nearest embassy or consular office can help. Shipping from the west coast to Manila will set you back $4K++ in a 40 footer. Storage and other fees are the killers. It is not uncommon to be slapped with duties and taxes exceeding 200% of the value of the vehicle. And corrupt agents will try to force to to 'come across' if you know what I mean. You will eventually find out it is cheaper to buy or lease a vehicle locally to serve your transport needs. Good luck.Answer #4:
I'LL JUST BUY A NEW CAR IF I WERE YOU...(IN THE PHILIPPINES)BRIBES WON'T BE AN ISSUE AND LESS HEADACHE.
Answer #5:
i'd rather you didn't.it will take a long process, and will cost you large. but i can make a suggestion.
for your 1 year vacation here, the right thing to do, buy a second hand car here in the philippines and use it while you're here.
and 3 weeks before you go back to where you from, sell the car starting at the price how much you bought it.
good luck amigo!
