Answer #1:
yes its ileagle to own a tiger but open your own zoo and you maybe can get one lolAnswer #2:
Don't know about the UK, but here in Vegas we have several tigers!Answer #3:
Not sure about UK.But i'm from Canada and my grandpa bought a tiger.
He has pictures like, holding him as a baby and real nice ones of him and the tiger as he got older and bigger. But unfortunatly, when it got full grown it started to get mean and he had to get it killed. He got it stuffed though, and now its in his living room! ;p This was years ago, though. I know you have to have a zoo license and alot of money.
Answer #4:
Tigers are covered by the Dangerous Wild Animals Act. It is not legal to own a tiger or any other big cat in the UK without a Dangerous Wild Animals licence. This must be obtained BEFORE you get the animal (it isn't legal to get a licence retrospectively). Not only does this come with a financial cost, they will also want to inspect your premises and the enclosure in which you intend to keep the animal. You are unlikely to get a licence unless you can convince the authorities that you can keep the tiger in such a way as to prevent it from suffering, and to protect the public.
Personally I think keeping wild animals as pets is cruel and dangerous, but there is nothing stopping you IF you can get a licence.
