Question: Is it weird to not have the honeymoon right after the wedding?

Answer #1:
I am married to a military guy and we are having our honeymoon 8 months after our wedding because that is when he could take leave for it. Alot of military couples either do not have a honeymoon, or have one alot later. Most of us do not even have a regular ceremony either. I am having the ceremony and the honeymoon in late february and I got married last June.edit: I didnt notice that you only got engaged 4 months before your wedding. You could always just put the wedding where he could get time off, and since it is farther away, you could probably get a better venue and vendors. Also, valentines day may be romantic, but are people really gonna wanna spend their valentines day at your wedding instead of with their spouse. And rates double just because it is valentines day. just a thought.
Answer #2:
I don't think it is weird at all. I will have college classes the week of and the next months after we get married and he will have work. If you have your honeymoon a few months after the wedding or even a year after it still seems fine. As long as the two of you take out time for you two to spend time together.I know someone who waited 5 years after they were married to have their honeymoon
Answer #3:
It's actually pretty common esp now when the economy is pretty bad. The wedding isn't cheap so a lot of people are waiting to do a nice honeymoon. I got married on the 30th but we are waiting until Dec to go on a cruise.Answer #4:
my friends have been married for 3 and half years and still not had a honeymoon mainly because they already had 2 little boys when they wed, now they have a third and with him being self employed he cant really afford to have a time off for holiday because he doesnt get any holiday leave!we have booked our honeymoon for 2 days after our wedding, but we have no ties, just a house which is easily affordable, so we have booked ours before we make our family, at least we can say we have done it!
its very common to hold back on honeymoon tho because of the economy and because of life!

Here's three real life examples of what other Brides and Grooms have done . .Bride and Groom # 1 got married on the last Saturday in August. She took three days off, he had to return to work on Monday. They took a holiday cruise between Christmas and New Years.
Bride and Groom # 2 got married in September. She had just started a new teaching job so she did not have any sick or vacation days. Took their honeymoon the following August before the next school term started.
Bride and Groom # 3 got married in 1999. Bought a nice home a month before their wedding. Finally got a chance to go on their honeymoon in 2009 (their tenth anniversary). Spent ten days in Hawaii. Had a great time but it was not the same.
