Question: Feeding my fish while on vacation?

yeah i think so they would eat it when they r hungry or u could ask a family member to feed them everyday and if that doe not work then u would have to get more than 25 gold fish for a 4 day vacation

Thats not veary nice. You can buy a feeder "A small machine which feeds them each day. not expensive" or you could just drop some heavy tablets "food" down there. They wont die whitout meat for 4 days so.

You can buy these electronic feeders that every 12 hours rotate dumping a load of food. You can alter how much is released, you put them on the top of the tank on the glass.

If you put heaps of goldfish in they would probably die because of the water and your fish might just gorge themselves on them

Frankly I would just feed them good before leaving and as soon as you return. Dumping that many feeders will encourage overfeeding and foul the water.

I wouldn't, this is more than likely going to spoil your water quickly, and encourage over feeding and bloat in your guys.
I'm also not a fan of the vacation blocks sold in LFS, they just rot and ruin the water quality.
Instead, offer a few live feeder fish te day off or before you leave, and invest in an automatic feeder for flakes or pelleted foods. The automatic feeders aren't too expensive and can usually be set to feed every 12-24 hours.
Though in all honesty, feeding them the day before you leave and the day you get back would be fine. Fish can go a while without food since their metabolism doesn't have to worry about core temp like ours does. A day or two of fasting here and there is actually a good idea for their over all digestive health. Allowing them to empty their system and prevent blockages, back ups and bloating issues.

There are blocks in the pet stores to give to fish to eat from as they want. These feeding blocks last for days. I don't know the correct name for them, but the pet store would be able to help you get them.
